Recruited at the age of 15, Naomi Campbell became one of the most recognisable and in-demand models of the late 1980s and the 1990s: she was one of six models of her generation declared ‘supermodels’ by the fashion industry.
As well as her modelling career, Naomi has embarked on other ventures, which include an R&B-style studio album and appearances in many films and television shows, such as the modelling competition reality show The Face in the UK and the USA. In July 2017, she was appointed as a contributing editor for fashion to British Vogue, under the new editor-in-chief of the magazine, Edward Enninful. In June 2018, Naomi received the prestigious Fashion Icon Award bestowed annually by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Naomi is also involved in charity work for various causes, especially related to health, humanitarian and environmental issues. Most famously, she founded Fashion for Relief in 2005, initially to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which hosts an annual catwalk event to raise money for designated charities. The most recent Fashion for Relief event was held in May 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival to support the Syrian Crisis Relief fund run by Save the Children. Here is the donation page for this cause.
