Adventure calendar

Welcome to our Book Bulletin Winter 2019 countdown: from the First Day of Winter in the Old Norse calendar, celebrated in Iceland as a national holiday (this year on 26 October 2019) to International Book Giving Day (on 14 February 2020).

This online ‘Adventure calendar’ works in a similar way as traditional, printed Advent versions. Instead of each window remaining unopened until the appointed date arrives, this Jolabokaflod CIC feature only reveals the next ‘Book of the Day’ recommendation on the appropriate day in the calendar, published one day at a time during the period of the Book Bulletin 2018 crowdfunding campaign – a total of 137 days.

Three celebrity recommendations were given ‘Book of the Day’ status to mark the three trade days at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2017 (11 October | 12 October | 13 October).
